Vandals scrape sinister message into pensioner’s beloved yellow car because it ruins the view of their picturesque village
Peter Maddox, eighty four is shocked following the “mindless destruction”
AN ICONIC banana-coloured Vauxhall Corsa which gained notoriety after being accused of “photo-bombing” an idyllic village has been vandalised – leaving its elderly possessor without transport.
Tourists wailed about the “ugly” car on medieval Arlington Row, which is on the UK passport’s inwards cover.
Holder Peter Maddox, 84, said he had the support of locals in Bibury, The Cotswolds, adding that he had “no choice” as there was nowhere else to park it.
But it emerges that vandals have now targeted the car two years on, the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard reports.

FACING COURT
Mr Maddox, a retired dentist who moved to the village when his wifey died fifteen years ago, found his car vandalised on Monday morning.
The word “Stir” had been scraped into the bonnet of the car, and the driver's side window and rear windscreen had been smashed.
It is estimated that £6,000 of harm has been done, and Mr Maddox has been left without a car.
His daughter-in-law Marie Kraus said: “Peter is understandably upset at the loss of his car and his independence, but he is also very fond of his lovely yellow car.
“Everyone in the village is very supportive. It is horrible to think whoever has done this has come out of their way down this little road to do something like this.
“It will be a fight to get another car. It will leave Peter out of pocket.”
The Corsa is likely to be written off, with locals condemning the “mindless destruction”.
Sergeant Garrett Gloyne, of the policing team for Cirencester and the Rural South, said: “We have conducted house to house inquiries.
“We are aware that presence of the vehicle was the bone of contention to some people.
“Nevertheless the harm caused to vehicle is beyond the pallid and we would appeal for anyone who knows anything to contact us on one hundred one or anonymously via Crimestoppers.”
