Asus ZenFone Four, ZenFone Five, and ZenFone six Get Android Four.Four KitKat Update

Asus has ultimately embarked rolling out the Android Four.Four KitKat OS update for the ZenFone four A400CG handset worldwide.

Update: Asus has posted in its ZenTalk forum that an update is rolling out for the ZenFone five (A501CG) and ZenFone six (A601CG) handsets as well, bringing them to Android Four.Four.Two, like the ZenFone four (A400CG). The company has also posted a detailed changelog.

The ZenFone four Android Four.Four KitKat update was announced by the company via a Twitter post on Wednesday, “The #KitKat update is here for #ASUS #ZenFone four :D” stated the post. The rock hard has not yet confirmed which countries or regions would receive the update very first.

However, the ZenFone four users can permanently keep a check by navigating through their handset’s Settings > About Phone > Software update option.

Commenting on the update, Peter Chang, Regional Head – South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group – Asus India, said, “Our users have been anxiously awaiting the android update and we are enormously elated to announce its upgradation at this time of the year. The KitKat update and other extra interesting features will further redefine their practice with their ZenFones.”

To recall, the Asus ZenFone four A400CG was introduced in India alongside the ZenFone five and the ZenFone six handsets back in July this year. The Asus ZenFone handsets include the fresh ZenUI skin on top of Android Four.Trio Jelly Bean. The company launched the larger ZenFone four A450CG in August, which came with Android Four.Four KitKat out-of-the-box.

The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM card) Asus ZenFone four A400CG sports a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixel) resolution display (translating to a 233ppi pixel density). It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology (implying four threads) and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone also features a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone features 8GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 64GB). Other specifications of the Asus ZenFone four include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth Four.0, and Micro-USB connectivity options, as well as a 1600mAh battery.

Notably in August, Asus also announced a firmware update (1.17.40.16) for the ZenFone five and ZenFone six smartphones. The fresh firmware update, majorly brings USB OTG (on-the-go) support to ZenFone five (Review | Pictures) and ZenFone six (Review |Pictures), while the ZenFone four already supports the function.
