The revised Jetta range kicks off with the $21,990 (drive-away) 118TSI Trendline, powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine hooked up to a six-speed manual.

Buyers wanting an automatic will have to spend an extra $2500 for the seven-speed DSG dual-clutch auto, which also reduces fuel consumption to 6.2L/100km (6.5L/100km for the manual).

The 118TSI engine is available in three different trim levels, including the base Trendline, Comfortline and range-topping Highline.

Trendline features a freshly available driver weariness detection system, anti-theft alarm, 16-inch alloys and electronic front differential lock for improved treating.

Building on the Trendline, the mid-spec $29,990 Comfortline adds DSG auto gearbox as standard, satnav, switch roles camera with front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control air-con, auto headlights and wipers and 17-inch alloys.

The range-topping Highline models build up leather upholstered sports seats with the driver’s electronically adjustable, keyless entry and begin, unique 17-inch alloys and fog lights.

Stepping up to Highline trim ($34,490 drive-away in 118TSI) also brings the option of a diesel or more powerful petrol engine borrowed from the old MK6 Golf GTI.

Priced from $36,990 (drive-away) the 103TDI Highline is powered by a Two.0-litre turbodiesel engine producing 103kW/320Nm connected to a six-speed DSG auto.

Combined fuel consumption for the frugal oil-burner is listed as Five.5L/100km.

Boasting sports suspension, a six-speed DSG and 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.Two seconds, the spectacle model also features 18-inch alloys, xenon headlights with LED daytime running LEDs, steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles and tinted windows.

Naturally, the top performer is also the thirstiest model in the revised Jetta line-up with a combined consumption figure of 7.8L/100km.
