Pet owners say the overgrown grass is now covering headstones at the Pet Memorial Cemetery in Lawton and they say it’s been that way for months. The grass has grown up to knee-height. There are hundreds of gravestones at the cemetery off of Highway 49. Tho’ some of them, you can’t even see because of grass and leaves.

They need individual hygiene products such as toothbrushes and toothpaste along with snacks. The members are from Crimson Cross, Walmart, the County, Emergency Management, and the City. They say they’ll have collection sites across the city by next Wednesday.

One person hospitalized following a crash in Lawton

One person was sent to the hospital, after a crash in Lawton. This was the scene on south Railroad and F Avenue around 1:30 this afternoon. Lawton Police say a silver car headed west on F Ave failed to yield at a stop sign and slammed into that crimson Ameri-Cab. One passenger inwards the silver car was taken to the hospital. No word on their condition. Two people inwards the Ameri-Cab also had minor injuries.

Altus AFB holds managed burn in prep for Air Show’s pyrotechnic display

Smoke packed the sky over the Altus Air Force Base this afternoon, but it wasn’t an emergency. They’re just getting ready for their annual Air Showcase. The fire department performed a managed burn in an area that will be used for a pyrotechnic display. The air display is scheduled for September 9th at 11:00 a.m.

The Lawton Police Department is demonstrating off some fresh police cars. They got seven fresh police sport utility vehicles. Some of them were paid for by the capital improvement project bill while others are just substituting older vehicles on the fleet. They are utter of fresh equipment and ready to roll. Sergeant Jenkins says the fresh vehicles will help them better serve the public.

A man was stabbed at Ross Estates on Wednesday night. According to police, a man stabbed his ex-girlfriend`s fresh beau in the tummy and then fled the scene before officers arrived. On Thursday morning, the suspect was found sleeping outside of home in the Eisenhower Village Area. Investigators say when the occupants awoke him, the suspect took off yet again. Officers were able to catch up with the suspect near SW Fenwick Ave and Bainbridge Avenue.

Lawton Goodyear Plant facing shipment delays due to Harvey

Effects of Hurricane Harvey have made its way to Lawton, specifically the Goodyear Plant. Laura Duda with Goodyear says they’ve seen a delay in raw material shipments because of the hurricane. As a result, some employees have opted to take a vacation, time without pay, or work in another area of the plant. About two hundred fifty makeshift contractors aren’t working while the plant isn’t producing at total volume.

Randy Wolfe, forty nine of Lawton, has been arrested for five felony offenses– one count of aggravated possession of child pornography, two counts of distribution of child pornography, one count of child sexual manhandle and one count of violating the computer crimes act.

The group’s CEO says the aim is to help keep pets belonging to Texas families close to their homes.

In our speech program, we train kids how to use their voice. This project is what they choose to speak out on and it is a worthy cause,» said educator Brandi Waldroop.

Less than a month after classes commenced, Cameron High School went up in flames just before 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Classes were canceled on Wednesday. The school houses students in grades 6th through 12th grade. Kristie Ann Buggy Crews from Pocola Fire Department, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, Poteau Fire Department and the Pocola Police Department actively fought the blaze for ninety minutes.

A triage center has been set up in an airport hangar in Oklahoma City, waiting to help victims of Harvey. Oklahoma shelters take in pets displaced by Harvey

Following Harvey, shelters in Oklahoma are helping out by taking in animals that were already up for adoption in Houston, to make room for pets displaced by flooding. Volunteers from the Central Oklahoma Humane Society picked up thirty shelter dogs at a weigh-in station in Bixby yesterday, to be delivered to Oklahoma City. The group’s CEO says the objective is to help keep pets belonging to Texas families close to their homes.

In our speech program, we instruct kids how to use their voice. This project is what they choose to speak out on and it is a worthy cause,» said educator Brandi Waldroop.
