2017 Genesis G90 Luxury Sedan Exposed to Take on S-Class, seven Series
T he very first fresh model from the freshly minted Genesis luxury brand is here, and Hyundai`s fresh upscale nameplate hopes to take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the flagship sedan segment. Called the two thousand seventeen Genesis G90, this full-size sedan is essentially a replacement for the outgoing Hyundai Equus, and will go on sale in the U.S. next year.
With a Four.5-inch longer wheelbase than the Equus, the G90 is larger than its predecessor in almost every dimension, and presents a much more elegant stance. The Genesis brand`s fresh design language, called «Athletic Elegance,» features soft, flowing lines along the profile, and the G90 has a strong front end with a hexagonal grille and swept-back headlights lifted from the current Hyundai Genesis sedan (which will soon become the Genesis G80). The plush interior features semi-aniline leather seats, real wood, and other high-end materials, along with a hedonistic rear-seat package (presumably optional) with two individual, adjustable thrones and entertainment screens for each passenger.
The two thousand seventeen Genesis G90 will suggest three powertrain choices, including a fresh Three.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 with three hundred sixty four hp and three hundred seventy six lb-ft of torque that pairs with an eight-speed automatic and either rear- or all-wheel drive. A 310-hp, Three.8-liter V-6 and a 419-hp, Five.0-liter V-8 will also be suggested, tho’ we don`t know if all of these engines will reach the U.S. market. The G90 will be available with an adaptive damper system, and Genesis said it put a special concentrate on quietness with extra sound-deadening and laminated glass.
As befits a flagship luxury sedan, the G90 will suggest a entire host of tech features, including semi-autonomous features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. The big, 12.3-inch center display screen can also display a 360-degree around-view monitor, and controls a high-end Lexicon surround sound audio system. Wireless cell-phone charging points will be available, along with a 22-way adjustable driver`s seat and 14-way adjustable passengers seats.
There`s no word yet on pricing for the two thousand seventeen Genesis G90, but we do know that it will primarily launch in the U.S., China, Russia, the Middle East, and its home market of South Korea (where it is called EQ900). As the Genesis brand does not yet have plans for its own dealer network, look for the G90 to be sold at certain Genesis-certified Hyundai dealers, at least for now.
